So wow the new KIPIDON trailer popped off on twitter & bsky. Cool.
Yes, yes... as you have heard, KIPIDON: We Will Always Love You (cool new subtitle), is coming February 15, 2025.
Since that is what I would call #BigNews, I thought I'd share some cool progress updates.
First off, "We Will Always Love You"? What's up with that?
Well, it's a phrase that I thought was important enough to the game's themes that I decided to add it to the title
On top of that, I've seen way too many people struggle with pronouncing and spelling KIPIDON, so adding the extra subtitle helps with that too.
Now for the real stuff... stuff that's actually the game
8 out of 10 levels, as of now, are fully complete!
The 9th is ingame but incomplete (it still needs its main gimmick).
And the final level has a solid concept now and will begin development shortly.
Playtesting with a specific friend group of mine will start in a couple days.
All great news!
I've mentioned on twitter that an updated demo will be coming.
I would say expect that to happen late-december.
Some cutscenes have been progressing as well. I expect the cutscenes to be the biggest development hurdle.
I've put alot of thought into KIPIDON's story and I want to make sure I get it right.

I've been toiling away at KIPIDON really hard these past couple days, so I feel like showin off some stuff here.
The biggest thing that I've been figuring out in my head is the story
Without spoiling anything, how it was planned originally, some characters were missing motivations for certain things that would happen.
So I took the time to sort of rework it into something just a tad more interesting.
The result of this ended in something more interesting & a tad more surreal.
I've done a bunch of sketches/storyboards/conceptArts for this stuff, so here are the things that are spoiler free.
I also felt like the level select that is currently present in the demo was a bit jank to navigate.
Especially if you were using a controller

Full small little drawings instead of level screenshots may have taken more effort, but I like this better in the long run.
Here are my favorites
I've also been working on Nat as a playable character.
The way she plays is a bit unique.
Since she has rollerblades, she is the only character that moves with actual momentum.
And her dog, Flinty is the one that is actually shooting the hearts. Don't ask how.
Her level takes place in her hometown, "Poro Town".
A little town that's by a big river or ocean??? Not sure which one, but they fuck with fishing heavy.
She was originally gonna have 2 levels (thus having her own chapter), but I am way more interested in one level than the other, so away it goes.
It was also cut because if I'm gonna add more things to work on, it should be very little things that I can easily complete with the deadline I set for myself.

Lastly, I've been planning for the next thing I work on after KIPIDON. Nothing concrete yet, but I'm excited to get started on it once KIPIDON is done
